The TR reboot gets a scribe, but we're not sure if the news is good or downright dire.
One of my favourite guilty-pleasure films is Equilibrium, a dystopic sci-fi piece starring a pre-Batman Christian Bale as a kick-arse enforcer of the Orwellian values of his depotic overlord. It also had some damn cool action sequences, long leather coats, and Sean Bean.
What's not to love?
Conversely, a film that's not any kind of pleasure, guilty or otherwise, is Ultraviolet, a hamfisted, insanely coloured futuristic vampire sci-fi mish-mash that has pretty much nothing going for it.
Both films are the written and directed work of one Kurt Wimmer, and he's the man that The Hollywood Reporter's just announced is going to write the reboot of Total Recall.
Hmm.
On the one hand... Equilibrium, a clever and well-plotted little action gem. On the other hand... Ultravoilet, a film so shit even a scantily-clad Milla Jovovich can't save it. And that's not even considering the fact that Total Recall hardly needs a remake in the first place!
We just don't know what to think.
