Apple blames materials for iPhone problems

Smokin' hot iPhones have lots of problems.

Fruit-themed toymaker Apple has done a U-turn on why its Iphone toys keep changing colour in the heat.

Last week it told us that the toys could only operate in conditions so temperate that even customers in the UK could not use them at some times of the year.

However since it flogs a fair few phones in places that get cold or hot, the sales teams have advised the PR department to change tack.

According to CNET Apple has now told the world plus dog that the problem only relates to the white iPhone - it has nothing to do with the sealed battery getting too hot, it is just that the plastic used for the white casing discolours.

But Apple's statement creates more questions than it answers. Why does the white casing have problems now when it didn't in earlier models? Has Apple used cheaper materials? Does the black plastic just not show its heat-induced staining?

If the white phone is made of the same plastic as other white Iphones then is it discolouring because of the heat of the machine? Or some other reason?

These questions, and many others, have not been answered by the Apple press office. We guess it will stick to this line until a black phone discolours or catches fire.

Oh wow, another intelligent and heavily nonbiased article from the Inquirer. The least they could do is spell iPhone correctly. And calling one of the best mobile handsets on the market a “toy” just furthers the softness of the authors head.

Hey AIMBOT exactly which facts presented in the article dont you agree with?

Regardless of the criticism you laid - the fact remains. There are problems.

You attempt to divert attention from that due to ramapnt fanboi'ism fails on this occasion.

It's one of two things: The new hardware posing a heat issue when it's all being used (think 3G radio, compass and GPS module) at the same time meaning more heat or that Apple used cheaper materials in the casing.

Either way, I'm glad I got a black one!

I'm sorry I didn't realise my disappointment with such a bullocks article being posted made me ramapnt with Apple fanboi'ism. You’ve awaken me to a life changing fact about myself. I should go buy an Apple product now.

I didn’t try and divert attention away from anything. I didn’t comment on the supposed facts in the article because really, what product doesn’t have its manufacturing faults? The battery in my Nokia N73 leaked and destroyed the entire handset. Did I write an article that was not even worthy of being published on news.com.au? This article is just blatantly attacking Apple without any sense of rational thought, and you posted in the same manner.

So whats new? Apple stuff always over heats because 99% of the design is to make it look sexy.
Apple wouldn't care if the things went nuclear every time you sent a txt, so long as it looks pretty.

I love it when people who have clearly never used said products feel they're the leasing expert on them.

The iPhone -is- a toy, the majority of crap you get for it is just that crap, gimmicky crap at that.

When form > function that = toy.

Interestingly, it seems that the attention is being focussed on the 3.0 firmware update as the source of the heat issue, as it hadn't been noted before and, afaik, has only been seen on iPhones which have had that update applied.
