There's a funny problem with video games...
Humour is an odd thing, and while it's always easiest to design a game completely around pre-determined funny events it's very hard to do it with every single release.
Portal is a great example; without knowing where you are in the (admittedly linear) game there's no point in having GLaDOS mention something about where you might possibly be standing.
Sometimes there's even humour created in situations that didn't necessarily even get written to be so, where an explosion sends a ragdoll flying in an unexpected way or a corpse becomes embedded in a wall.
Still there's been something lost along the way, which Kotaku has a quick look at to see if they can pin it down as something definitely missing.
The answer is a vague one, but it's still worth a read and a think for yourself - do you think games need more comedy in them?
Head over to Kotaku's article for a squiz.
