Has Ryan Reynolds just put the Deadpool movie on the back burner by agreeing to play The Green Lantern?
Last week, we discovered that Warner Bros and director Martin Campbell's search for the lead in its adaptation of DC Comics' The Green Lantern has been narrowed down to three people. Those three - Bradley Cooper, Justin Timberlake and Ryan Reynolds - have now been narrowed down to one, and now it's being reported that it's Reynolds who has landed himself the role. Jared Leto was apparently in the mix too, incidentally.
This is the second comic book movie that Reynolds is set to headline, given that he's got his own X-Men spin-off movie coming, Deadpool. He'll be slipping into his Green Lantern outfit in January, when production on the film begins. And the film itself is then due for release on June 17th, 2011.
That's going to see it arriving in the midst of quite a summer. Already scheduled in are Transformers 3, Spider-Man 4, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part II, Thor, Cars 2 and Kung Fu Panda 2. Yikes.
You can wager we won't be seeing that Deadpool movie before 2011, mind.
