Modern Warfare 2 to get coolest special edition EVAR

Nightvision goggles to be included in Modern Warfare 2 'Prestige Edition'! But will Australia get to play?

News has come down the pipe overnight of the three editions of Modern Warfare 2 that will be available come November this year. There's the standard edition, the Hardened Edition, and - most impressively of all - the Prestige Edition, which comes with a pair of fully working NIGHTVISION GOGGLES.

The Prestige Edition comes with the goggles ("Ze goggles, zey apparently do zomething!") and everything that comes in the Hardened Edition - an art book, a metal game case, and a code to download the original Call of Duty (coming to Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network).

Infinity Ward's Community Manager - Robert Bowling - has let slip via his Twitter that the Hardened Edition will set gamers back about $US80, so that gives you a rough ballpark to expect the Prestige Edition to go for. A lot more, in other words, and that's not even counting the premium Australian gamers pay for games.

We've fired off an anxious email to the peeps at Activision Australia to confirm availability of all the editions locally, and we'll update this story as soon as we hear word.

'Cause we want those goggles!

$80 for night vision goggles seems worth it alone.

$80 was for the hardened version.

The prestige edition will have the goggles.

I dare say it could be the most expensive edition of a game ever to hit our shores.....

But what an edition it will be!

Hahaha it's on Lazz!! So you putting on a MW2 LAN in November eh. That would be a great photo, 20 odd screens with 20 odd pairs of goggles peering over them.

Oh, this just in. According to how bad the game's going to be, it's $98 for the night vision goggles.

The metal box is worth $2.
