Unsurprisingly, Starcraft II is pushed back.
In an announcement today that doesn't really surprise anyone (though invariably will disappoint the millions of fans), Starcraft II has been delayed in a forum post by a Blizzard staff member.
We'd received wind of the Starcraft 2 beta launch back in May, but it's rolled into August without any sign of the beta actually eventuating into anything - even if it started tomorrow there wouldn't be enough time for the game to be completed by the end of the year.
What this means for us is that we'll have to wait until sometime next year, and not even a specific timeframe has been given in the announcement:
As we work to make Battle.net the premier online gaming destination, we'll also continue to polish and refine StarCraft II, and we look forward to delivering a real-time strategy gaming experience worthy of the series' legacy in the first half of 2010.
Yeah, you read that right - the first half of 2010. As in anywhere in the first six months, if they happen to finish it in that timeframe.
For now, all fans of Starcraft have to cling to is the original game, the Tech Trees and a few unit pictures - though dreams of a Zerg-infested Christmas seem to have been shot.
Post below with your disappointment or indifference, as we all wait for Starcraft II's eventual release.
