Downloads are no longer RC version...

Windows 7 versions on the TechNet and MSDN download sites no longer carry the "RC" designation.

While the software will not go on general sale until October 22, it means that the full version of Windows 7 is now available to hundreds of thousands of potential punters.

While there's still no formal announcement in TechNet's news area, which still talks about RC, the final files are appearing in the subscribers' download area.

In addition to the Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate editions, subscribers can even download the Home Basic and Starter editions, which won't be for sale to US consumers.

Writing in his blog, the Vole's Brandon LeBlanc announced Windows 7 RTM saying that everything was on time.

He also mentions that volume license customers will be able to download the English version of the software today. Bulk purchases of the OS will start on September 1.

I got this via Technet on Friday and have been enjoying the goodness all weekend. It's solid, fast and is bounds and leaps ahead of Vista.

Quite frankly, people pushing the "service pack" jokes have no legs to stand on now!

The RC is really quite good, im running it on my games rig for err ahhh testing purposes and have not had any issues.

Tested emulators, Daemon tools, COD5WaW, COD4, Mass Effect, All of the Steam games.

Everything runs quite stable

When its released buying straight off the bat.

It's fantastic.

First Microsoft OS that I feel has no need for a Service Pack before deployment.

I agree. The first microsoft OS i've been happy with upon release. Its very fast, stable and no where near as resource hungry as vista. I took vista off my laptop and put xp on but I would happily install 7. Good effort. Oh and its pretttttttty

probably the first OS i'm actually going to pay for. So anyone know how soon joe public can get a non RC version legitimatly?

Some of my friends are holding off trying 7 because they don't want to reformat again march next year when the RC starts becoming nagware

The official site says October 22nd is the released date. Not sure if that will be for Australia too or just the US.

Been using the Beta and now RC since day 1 and have to say I love it.. will be buying in the first week.

3 copies, 2 home and 1 pro... for the business laptop which I need domain support for.

I currently have it running on my HTPC and the Media Center is great, longest uptime was almost 2 months and I only had to restart for a hardware upgrade.
