Open beta, pre-select, and headstart programs all gets in the latest batch of Aion news.

Developer NCsoft and Australian publisher QVS have announced the start dates for the Aion open beta, prior to the game's retail launch on September 23. Keen players can jump into the world of Atreia on the 6th of this month, and will have access to version 1.5 of the game until the 13th.

The open beta will host many westernised improvements to the game, it's reported, as well as new zones, instances and better game balancing.

Players who have pre-ordered Aion will then get access to pre-selection on the 18th, and then a two-day head start prior to the official launch.

That's in North America, I believe. I've just heard back from the local PR that the open beta is only for pre-orders.

Not very open, huh?!
