Aion open beta not very open

Annoying news for gamers hoping to get a sneak peak at Aion during the open beta.

Following on from today's earlier story on Aion's open beta, starting September 6, we've just heard some disappointing news from the PR firm representing the local publishers of the game.

The beta will not actually be 'open'. Instead, it's only for those who have pre-ordered the game.

Annoyingly, it seems the beta is truly open in the US market, but as usual local gamers are getting the short straw. We're trying ot confirm this with QVS, and determine why we miss out, as we speak. More news as we get it.

This article is unfair as at this point in time Americans have no special treatment when compared to Australian players. Also eligibility isn't ONLY for pre-orders as you stated, members of file planet and anyone who participated in closed beta also has access to open beta.

as usual we get screwed, but as usual it will be "leaked", and we will "get" it, gamers always find a way.

I think it's wierd that people think a company is "screwing" people because they are not giving them free access to their game?

Arrogant customer much?

Hmmm is a 'closed' open beta a good idea?

Surely you want to get as many freeloaders addicted to your game, by letting them play it for free for a bit, then having them buy the game and pay their subscriptions too... I think non-mmorpg games this closed beta based on preorder only is a good idea, but not for mmorpgs.

Considering it hasn't even started yet, it's all a bit of a joke IMO.

they dont want it open to us becauce if we play it and find out it lags then we wont buy it, on the other hand if it is pre orderd you already payed for it and you get no refund for that.

US dollars are worth more than AUS dollars.

I know many Aussies playing closed beta and soon to be open beta, this article is totally wrong.... Americans are getting no special treatment compared to us.

Bundy, if it's wrong, then the local PR and distributor is giving me bad information :) I even asked the PR to confirm it!

Of course, it wouldn't be the first time someone knows nothing about the game they're touting.

Haha yea, I've been following this game since the start of Closed beta and as far as I know it is true that the open beta is not truly open, however it is like that everywhere. the requirements seem to be Pre-Order, Win a competition at various sponsor sites, sign up to file planet or have participated in closed beta from various ways.

you can put $5 down get your pre order, get into all the betas and if you don't like it cancel your order. I have done that a few times but as for Aion, well lets say i will be sticking with that one.
