New Napoleon: Total War art and screens

Do you think you can do better than Napoleon? Do you think you can stop him? While we wait to find out, check out these new pics.

Empire was a pretty solid game, but I'm not the only one who thought the campaign stopped short of the ultimate age of blackpowder warfare. The years following the French Revolution saw the rise of not only Napoleon's Imperial France, but through it there occurred some of the greatest moments in military history.

The rise of the Royal Navy, and Britain, as a truly global super power. It saw Europe divided and maps redrawn. Names to conjure with, not just Napoleon - Wellington, Blucher, Sharpe (okay, not historical, but sue me).

And the fashion was awesome.

We simply cannot wait for this game, and the paltry screens and art we have on offer here is only a mild distraction compared to our anticipation of re-fighting Waterloo in one of the best tactical engines we've seen. But for now...

As much as I liked Empire Total War, I couldn't help but also get ticked off with the lag issues it had just like previous Total War games. I was very optimistic when I played the demo, because there were no lag issues, but when I got the game, it just happened all over again. Seemed like they still couldn't quite get it right on that part.

If you haven't read/watched Sharpe (recommend reading, though I haven't finished or got through many of the Sharpe series), it's a must for any Empire/Napoleon Total War player. Who knows, you might pickup some new tactics ;D

Loved empire total war, just wish it wouldn't have crashed halfway through each campaign just as I had taken half the world. I'm really looking forward to this.

The only way to get good at tactics is to study great generals like Hannibal and Alexander the great.

Oh, the tactics in the Sharpe series are pretty sound, but largely from a skirmisher's point of view :)

The temptation is always there to run the TW engines at full GFX, initially I felt the lag and that my poor old single core was not up to the task. Reducing the video quality to its minimum was the best move I could make, after all its not the the way the chess pieces look but how the game is played where the thrill of ETW really is. Notably my note book was far smoother than my PC. personally i can't wait for Napoleon to be released, i am sure that it will provide many hours of pleasure. I suggest that a read of Archer Jones' book The Art of War in the Western World is of immeasurable value. and as for the Navy a few episodes of Hornblower will assist no end.
