Fancy your 'clocking skills on the world stage? Get into this comp...

We know that the average Atomican overclocks pretty much everything they get their hands on. PCs, toasters, the neighbour's cat... there's nothing that can't be made faster and sexier by the addition of a little Ln2.

Except maybe the cat...

Anyhoo... if you live and breath overclocking, and fancy yourself in the big leagues, then MSI's Xtreme Speeder comp is what you've been waiting for. The comp kicks off on November 15 and runs for four weeks, with big cash prizes for the best results. For more info, check out the comp's site.

Honestly this competition is stupid I only know one person on atomic that loves MSI boards.

I don't see why I can't enter using a Gigabyte or ASUS board...

Nes you don't like MSI boards just because you are lack of experience or knowledge on them.

The silly thing about these comps is, the only people with a chance of winning are the ones who spend big on cooling, or go through multiple components to find the better silicon.

If only there was a way to get an even playing field.

Yeah, it's one of the reasons we don't run the Gigabyte event anymore - it's just always the same people!

It would be interesting to have an overclocking competition at Atomic HQ. Everyone gets the same hardware, and you get what you get. I'd really enjoy that!

And, perhaps put restrictions on ridiculous voltages. :P

well no it would promote tweaking in the ram timings and sub voltages more so, any idiot can pump a shit load of vcore into a CPU and raise the baseclock/FSB, theres no skill in that.

True, but a stock cooler will limit the extent of the overclock. It'd be a better idea to put limits on the maximum voltages, e.g. 1.4v max on the vcore. That way people have to know what they're doing, rather than throwing everything really high and hope for the best. There should also be a temperature cut-off at 80c under load.
