Windows 7 is doing much better than Vista

About 234 per cent better...

Figures from beancounters at NPD show that sales of Windows 7 are 234 per cent higher than the sales of Vista ever were.

The figures indicate that Microsoft might have returned to the heady days of making sales rather than having to cover for embarrassments.

NPD Group says that if Windows 7 had not done as well at this time of year Vole would have an excuse because Vista launched in January when people are more likely to buy an operating system. However Windows 7 still has managed to wipe the floor with Vista and also get into those corners which are hard to get into.

There is no word from Microsoft on the sales figures for Windows 7. Shy and retiring CEO Steve Ballmer has only revealed that sales figures have been fantastic... in Japan.

NPD's figures suggested that the operating system's launch has created an initial 49 per cent surge in computer sales compared to the same point last year.

So it looks like people really were waiting for Microsoft to stick out a different operating system rather than switching to Linux or something fruity.

Evidently you can walk into any Hungry Jacks/Burger King and order an X amount of patty burger.

As for Win 7, I am waiting for my trip to the US next month to buy a home pack (mmm Xmas sales). The cost of Win 7 here is so much of a rip off especially when considering our strong dollar.

*shrug* I see Win7 as an excuse to build a new system/major upgrade. OEM license is the only way to go IMHO, as the retail price is a bit off-putting.

Having said that, I paid $199 for XP in 2002 or whenever.

Ha, that's like saying an Olympic athlete is doing better than his dead grandmother. It's not really a fair comparison.

I'm going to put my 2 cents in and say this. I am holding off the switch to windows7... mainly because I prefer Vista, I have it running sweet on my machine, and I don't really need 7 just yet. That and the taskbar annoys me!

I couldn't eat that burger but I will take a Windows 3.1.. hold the pickles!

Sceptre - The .1 is the pickles. Unless you upgrade to extra onion and sauce. But then you are getting a 3.111 burger.

Im going to buy myself 7 as a christmas present to myself. Have had the evaluation copy for ages and have really, if ever, switched over to XP.
