Kick-Ass: first posters and early word

The film of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr’s Kick-Ass is shaping up really well if an early report is to be believed. And we’ve got posters too!

Most definitely one of the films to watch out for early next year is director Matthew Vaughn's take on Mark Millar and John Romita Jr's comic book Kick-Ass. The film stars Nicolas Cage, Christopher Mitnz-Plasse and Aaron Johnson, and if you're not familiar with the comic book, it kicks off as the story of Dave Lizewski, a high school student who one day puts on a costume and takes to the streets in the fight against crime. Soon, though, other characters start to emerge, and in spite of having no super powers whatsoever, Lizewski gradually starts to become a hero after all.

The film isn't out until April, but the early report up at AintItCoolNews suggests that this is one comic book adaptation worth taking the time out to see. The site's report declares that "I'm happy to tell you that this is the Kick-Ass film that Kick-Ass fans will want to see," and in particular praises young actress Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl, the 11-year-old sword-wielding assassin.

There's not been much promotional material for the film thus far, but at IGN, they've uploaded the first four character posters for it. And if you put them all side by side, then the title of the film gets spelt out in the background too. It's a little detail, but what's not to like there?

We like these posters, but we're hoping that a trailer might be heading our way before Christmas too. And then we just have to wait until April 16th for the film itself. Given that we were originally expecting to see The Expendables around about then - before it got shunted to August - Kick-Ass might just have filled the gap.

"Kick-ass" is probably Millar's best work since "Superman: Red Son".

Can't wait to see this one.

Anyone who doesn't like Mystery Men is, quite frankly, worse than Hitler.

Well it wouldn't be hard to be worse than mystery men then would it. Most movies are worse than mystery men so that's hardly a bold statement... unless you think mystery men is bad in whichcase "the holl" isn't going far enough in his hitler comparison. You'd be worse than double hitler at least.
