Fox cancels Dollhouse - crap!

We knew it was gonna happen, but now it's official.

Dollhouse polarised TV fans like few other shows. For some, it was surefire proof of Joss Whedon's brilliance, as well as evidence that the networks really have it in for him. For others, it was just another vehicle for lame dialogue and hot fighting chicks, that once and for all proved why the networks hate him.

And, now, it's been cancelled.

The show will not be renewed for a third season, but at least Fox is likely to let Whedon finish the series, and is likely to broadcast the remaining episodes. The 11th episode of a 13 ep run is currently in production, so that means Joss gets two and half episodes to wrap up the show.

Now, personally, I love the show. It has its flaws, but no more than many other, more successful programs, and when it works it's one of the most affecting, intelligent shows on television. And it's gone, like the Sarah Connor Chronicles is gone, and like Fringe is rumoured to be gone very soon, too.

Damn. I needs me some more sci-fi on TV!

I won't be shedding a major tear...I thought it was okay. Maybe the SciFi channel in the US would pick it up and keep making it?

I was just getting into this show :(

Fox can go suck ... on the other hand, I don't know why Joss got sucked into this again by the same people who rooted him TWICE* before.

* Requires confirmation but I think it was Angel and Firefly Fox network decided to pull the plug on. Buffy was due mainly to casting I think.

If it's gotta go, I just hope they're doing it to clear budget for more "Fringe".

Hehe, it's FOX. I think it will be to clear the budget for the next reality TV show, like Temptation Island 2... /sigh

As soon as they kicked Dollhouse off sweeps week it hadnt a chance in hell.

The only show i am worried about at the moment is Defying Gravity. It has so many places it could go in terms of technology theory, and it could be a great Sci Fi drama if given half a chance.

it was OK, but i wont miss it, but yeah i dont get why joss went back to fox, and what expected it all to change, i dunno, but there are better shows that deserve money.

I thought defying gravity had already been cancelled as there was some article i remember glancing at saying how the creator would have gone forward had the series been renewed.

I never could get into Dollhouse, I need to watch a few more episodes maybe.

They should go to the neding with one of the main characters waking up out of a coma and realising it was all just a dream. Noone can get enough of that kind of ending!

Fox cancels another show. Not surprising. Nothing seems to last long on that network.

I won't miss this show too much, but Fringe, that's a show I'd like to see keep running.

Now there's a show that should've been canned many, many seasons ago.

Huge, giant "meh".

What was the appeal of this show?

hot girls, fighting, kinda sci fi, techy and a bit grim and "Gets to play different people each week". Although playing house and being a dominatrix appear to crop up enough to make a good "comming up" advert.

Not sure why it got two seasons even. varies in quality way to much episode to episode probably a lot more enjoyable to watch the SG.U that show is grating and you endure it, rather than enjoy.

I tried to like Sarah Connor Chronicles and episode 1 was quite good, but beyond 2-3 episodes it became very pedestrian.. it didn't have any life left in it at all.

Many have I loved, and many times been bitten,
many times I've gazed along the open road.

Many times I've lied and many times I've listened,
many times I've wondered how much there is to know.

Many dreams come true and some have silver linings
I live for my dream and a pocketful of gold.

Best episode was the end of S1 with Alpha going nuts, should be more like that.
