OS Xbox Pro mod packs beefy tech in an unlikely case

In terms of Xbox modding, this pwns all else.

Modding is a hobby practiced by all those dedicated enthusiasts out there, but it's perfected by disappointingly few. Probably due to its difficulty, it's been left to those with the skill and passion (not to mention patience), with a drop of creativity thrown in for good measure.

Will Urbina fits all that and more, for not only has he packed a powerful computer into the casing of an old first-gen Xbox, but he's also managed to piece together a video that shows off the entire build process from start to finish!

The parts he's squeezed into this form factor are as follows, with full copies of OS X 10.6 and Windows 7 installed:

  • Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
  • NVIDIA 9800GT
  • 8GB Crucial Ballistix memory
  • 4 x 500GB 2.5" HDDs
  • 1 x 16GB SSD
  • SFF PSU

Not only has he fit them inside, but he's made the finished result look more polished than a diamond-buffed sports car. Check out his video of the impressive mod below (via engadget), and lust after his skills.

Epic Mod!
Rejuvenates my enthusiasm! - (not that I lost it) :)
Goes to show you really need the gear though.
His workshop was awesome, but other than patience most people would probably be able to manage something like that if they put their minds to it, which is great!

Great vid! two thumbs up here.

I'm suprised noone bothered to mod an xbox to look like an actual computer :P

This one's a good job, but it's nothing compared to the TF2 turret mod.

very impressive workmanship; and equally impressive video production.

It certainly looked like it took a lot of work to mod the case. Do they all take that long? I presume - only if you want it to look THAT GOOD.

Well done.

Thats what's always stopped me from trying some more advanced mods. I dont have the gear do make the job look perfect.

That mod looked pretty sweet, it really shows what patience and some 'Know How' can end up as :)
