Apple rickroller gets a job as a developer

Go directly to pay day, do not go to jail.

Proving that it is indeed a mad world, the 21 year old author of the Ikee Iphone worm has gone and landed himself a job as an application developer on the platform.

Ashley Towns, the young man who thought it incredibly amusing to Rickroll jailbroken Iphone users, has swapped his ironic tee shirt for a cleaner one as he has joined mogeneration, an Iphone app developer firm. And, no, we hadn't heard of it either, 'til just now.

Of course it's not unusual for hackers to swap their dusty black stetson for a clean white one, but usually they do a bit of prison time in between ruining people's expensive IT kit and developing for it.

The fact that the local upstart has skipped that part has irked security expert Graham Cluley, who greated the news thus, "It jars with me that Towns has shown no regret for what he did, and that now his utterly irresponsible behaviour appears to have been rewarded. Will Towns be offering a token $5 compensation to all those he infected for the inconvenience he caused? I doubt it."

It's probably going to further peeve those users whose Iphones are still emblazoned with a picture of 80s pop star Rick Astley, most of whom are here in Australia. And let's not forget that the whole thing is good publicity for mogeneration, which is also based in Australia.

Lets not forget that he copy and pasted it from someone else. I wish I could get a job for stealing someone else's work.

Sounds like the original person who wrote the code got a raw deal.

did the kid get fined or something?!?!

what he did wasn't good and as much as I dont give a crap for iphones it's still something that inconvenience others. People get in trouble for a lot less - jay walking, fines for blasting music on a public train etc etc..
This guy is a wanker.

Sounds like an attempt to grab some headlines. The kid isn't worth employing, he didn't code anything.

Sounds more like they're planning to arrest the kid when they get who he is when he turns up to an apple office. I do not believe for an instant that Apple is stupid enough or cheap enough to hire a copycat coder then the original the code was stolen from.

I beg to differ on that last part Count.

But in any case, its not with Apple if you bothered to read the article and not just the head line.
