External build of OS X 10.6.3 is almost out

With developers in 48 hours.

Apple is about to release the first external build of Mac OS X 10.6.3, the next incremental update to Apple's Snow Leopard operating system.

AppleInsider reports that the forthcoming builds are likely to be released to some developers in the next 48 hours.

It is not clear what Apple plans to fix in the new update, dubbed 10Dxx. The last version corrected a guest account bug that could potentially delete a user's account data.

The Apple genius programmers had written in something which could wipe the data by logging in and out of a guest account on a Snow Leopard machine. The update also included support for the Mac maker's new multi-touch Magic Mouse.

Apple has been going like the clappers on the next version of Mac OS X, managing updates every few weeks.

Of course it is not saying when the new operating system will be released. Smart money is on it releasing a new version at the next Triumph of the Will style Macworld rally in February.

@Mudg3: that hurts. GNU/Linux is for PC users too ... :(

Apple has also made quite a number of contributions to the desktop that you enjoy today ... OSX isn't one of them, but still ... :D
