Microsoft's AR tech shows up at this year's TED conference

Video: Cool stuff from the Technology, Entertainment, Design conference - seamless mapping, augmented reality, and the joy of live demos.

The Technology, Entertainment, Design conference is on again, and the cool tech is just flowing out. Last year our eye was caught by some awesome augmented reality tech, and it's happened again this year.

The culprit is Blaise Aguera y Arcas, an architect at Microsoft Live Labs, and he's showing off some of the new tricks that Bing's mapping tool has to offer.

And it's pretty neat, especially 'round the five minute mark...

Coolness. The video layered over the streetview is pretty sweet, but the nightsky and constellations is a wonderful flourish to end the talk on. It's always nice to be reminded that Microsoft is capable of some truly innovative work.
