Alan Wake an Xbox exclusive, studio too 'small' for PC

Remedy wakes up to recent news about Alan Wake.

Alan Wake, one of the PC gaming community's most anticipated games since its announcement at E3 in 2005, has been recently announced to only support the Xbox 360 platform.

The game is being developed by Remedy Entertainment, who have explained their move to the console-only platform in an interview with VG247:

...frankly, we're a small studio. We're 50 people, and being a small studio, it makes a lot more sense for us to focus on one platform. Currently we're fully focused on the Xbox version, and [as for] what the future holds, we haven't got anything to announce, and we haven't thought that far right now.

While the Xbox 360 version is scheduled to release in late May this year, it seems that the future of the PC version is unsure, and certainly isn't guaranteed.

This is welcome news for those frustrated PC fans who received an unwholesome explanation last week from Remedy, where a Microsoft spokesman described the PC platform as "too intimate".

Head to bit-tech to read some more about the original announcement.

Is this game built with XNA? Wasn't that supposed to make it easy to port code between Xbox and PC?

But yeah, the articles explanation is a far better one than just "the pc is too intimate".

So, a game that was announced as a PC exclusive is now an Xbox exclusive. Because apparently a PC is too intimate for a story driven horror/suspense game. WTF!?
And apparently they were optimising it for quad-core and everything. This leaves me confused and disappointed. I still want it though...
