NVIDIA throw up a site for their case against Intel.
When the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, or FTC, subpoenaed NVIDIA last year for information regarding Intel's behaviour, NVIDIA was only too happy to cooperate.
Following up on their actions last year, NVIDIA have launched a microsite that deals specifically with the FTC case, making it clear their position against Intel is a very serious one.
The microsite, titled "The Case for Innovation", explains in relatively simple terms the difference between a CPU/GPU, why the FTC case matters, NVIDIA's evidence and offers a host of examples in the media that support their case.
The FTC's investigations into Intel began when AMD accused Intel of anti-competitive practices, suggesting that the bundling and pricing of Intel chips were specifically crafted to keep AMD's chips out of the European market - a case that Intel lost, with a $2.8 billion fine that added insult to injury.
Intel's behaviour has been claimed by the FTC to have three main effects, as explained on NVIDIA's microsite:
NVIDIA's beef specifically revolves around the chipset business, having been locked out of developing new chipsets for Intel's Arrandale and Clarkdale chips based on the LGA1156 socket.
Whatever the result of the case when it plays out in its entirety, this is shaping up to be a lengthy battle for NVIDIA - and one that they're committed to fighting.
