Razer releases new left-handed mouse

Cack-handers rejoice! Razer's looking after you!

We review a lot of gaming mice here at Atomic, but one thing we rarely get to cover in this area is gear for left-handed players. With ergonomics playing such an important part in mouse design, many models are simply impossible for lefties to use. But no more, thanks to Razer's latest.

The DeathAdder Left Hand Edition (creative naming, guys!) offers all the classic Razer features, but all flipped bass-ackwards. "Leftie gamers have long been requesting that we develop a gaming grade mouse that is designed exclusively for the left-handed gaming community and we really value the feedback we receive from our fans," said Robert "Razerguy" Krakoff, president, Razer USA. "Not many gamers know this, but I am a southpaw myself and feel truly excited to have a mouse that fits perfectly in my left hand. There is really no substitute for gaming with your naturally dominant hand."

Here's the feature list:

  • Ergonomic left-hand design
  • 3500dpi Razer Precision 3.5G infrared sensor
  • 1000Hz Ultrapolling / 1ms response
  • Five independently programmable Hyperesponse buttons
  • On-The-Fly SensitivityTM adjustment
  • Always-OnTM mode
  • Ultra-Large non-slip buttons
  • 16-bit ultra-wide data path
  • 60-120 inches per second and 15g of acceleration
  • Zero-Acoustic UltraslickTM Teflon® feet
  • Gold-Plated USB connector
  • Seven-Foot, lightweight, braided fiber cable
  • Approx. size in mm: 128(L) x 70(W) x 42.5(H)

We don't have local pricing yet, but the US costing is $59.99. Hopefully we'll get a chance to look at one soon - though we'll need to hire a lefty to do it!

I use the 2nd generation right handed, the first couple weeks took some getting used to, but now i love it. I agree it looks good, especially with my razer lycosa keyboard.

hire me hire me! I've been waiting for an ergonomic left-handed mouse for frakkin' ever!

Finally! Well done Razer - I'd hoped it would be you that did the first really decent one. Logitech basically scoffed at me when I asked their dev team about it. Microsoft didn't seem to know what a left-handed person was either. Muppets.

Left handed, right minded. ;-)

at least we can be satisfied that the keyboard is actually designed more for us than for righties. We can use the arrow keys by default but righties need to use wasd. Har haar.

I use 1,2,3 and 5 on the keypad for my movement keys. Gives me 22 spare keys for extra binds :)
