Two new vids for Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell

Video: Two walkthrough video of the new Splinter Cell: Conviction demo have turned up... time to sneakily check them out...

To be perfectly honest, the Splinter Cell games have often left us cold in the past - the focus on stealth to the exclusion of all else, and the harsh mission failure penalties, simply didn't work for us. Splinter Cell: Conviction, however, looks to be a completely different kettle of brutal interrogations and combat.

Ubisoft has just released two new walkthroughs of the upcoming demo. The first one is a classic walkthrough, and shows off some awesome gameplay: beating information out of someone Jack Bauer style, cold execution headshots, destructible environments and more.

The second one, though, is for those who still cling to the old stealth gameplay, and is the same level, but with a much sneakier bent. It really shows off the complexity of the environments, and the open-ended nature of some of the gameplay.

And you gotta love Michael Ironside's gravelly return. Splinter Cell: Conviction will be out on PC and 360 on April 15.

It reminds me of Batman: Arkham Asylum. Though I think that detective mode in Batman is cooler than the sonar thing in this game. In detective mode you can see things like if the bad guys are calm, nervous or terrified which is really cool because then you can know if you've freaked the guys out or not. My favorite thing to do in the demo is swing around from gargoyle to gargoyle in the final bit and just throw batarangs at everyone, especially when they are climbing the stairs. They fall off and get KOed. I hope you can do something like that in this game.

I meant to write, "when they climb the ladders" not stairs.
(This thing needs something to edit your comments. It'll save people from having to double post when they make a mistake.)

I loved the demo.

Man, the interrogation scene is BRUTAL.

Very intuitive cover system and I like the hand-to-hand takedown then allowing you a quick 2-man targeted gun takedown.

AI in the demo was a little dodgy, but I can see a lot of scope for various stealthy strategies, just from the demo.

I'm still pissed they don't have it covered on PS3.
Been through 3 xboxs so far... so I had to swap!
