Accutech delivers a new 'exoskeleton' arm

A new powered limb offers hope to the disabled, as well as those who just want to crush bricks with their bare hands.

R & D firm AccuTech has just announced a massive breakthrough in exoskeleton advances.

Using revolutionary hyper-sensors and nano-hydraulic technology, the exoskeleton is able to detect and amplify body movement. Covering over 80% of the human body, it also protects its wearer from high impact and extreme temperatures.

In a video released today a prototype arm is shown in action, with the full exoskeleton due to be unveiled next month at the hotly anticipated Stark Expo 2010.

Charles Healey, CEO commented: "Putting aside the obvious commercial applications of HazTech, our priority is to unlock its humanitarian potential. By better protecting the lives of peacekeepers and emergency rescue teams, we can help them save the lives of others."

Here's a brief overview of the arm in action.

We welcome our new powered overlords!

cerby, it isn't much of a piss take since I watched Stephen Colbert the other evening and he was chatting to the founder of Sedgway who was commissioned by the US military to create artificial limbs like these for the servicemen who have lost limbs in combat. Pretty impressive stuff and useful considering how many wounded servicemen coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan are missing a limb or two or even all of them. Read "The Good Soldiers" by David Finkel for some better insight on the carnage caused by IEDs and EFPs in Iraq.

@tunksy you do realise that AccuTech doesn't even exist? It's just viral marketing for Iron Man 2.

Na guys it's actually real i'm going to the expo next month to do a presentation, and yes it's named the stark expo for marketing purposes but it works both ways, the movie gets publicity but then so do us guys who built the exoskeleton arm. anyway this isn't something you wear over your arm just yet so tunksy your going to have to wait a little longer.

It had me for a minute. Then I saw the brick being broken- Hang on that looks a little overdone. I realised that this was fake and there are no brick braking prosthetic limbs, dammit. On the positive side: Hell Yeah! Bring on Ironman 2!!
