Starcraft fans can rejoice at the booty on offer in the just revealed collector's pack. Plus: local servers announced for multiplayer!

First things first: while we now know what's in the box, we still don't know what date Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty will be released. Just wanted to cover that upfront before getting barraged with questions.

But what we do, is the level of awesomeness that's going to be included in the Collector's Edition of Wings of Liberty. Here's the bumpf:

  • The Art of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, a 176-page book featuring artwork from the game
  • An exclusive 2GB USB flash drive replica of Jim Raynor's dog tag, which comes preloaded with the original StarCraft and the StarCraft: Brood War expansion set
  • A behind-the-scenes DVD containing over an hour of developer interviews, cinematics with director's commentary, and more
  • The official StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty soundtrack CD, containing 14 epic tracks from the game along with exclusive bonus tracks
  • StarCraft comic book issue #0, a prequel to the comic series
  • A World of Warcraft mini Thor in-game pet that can be applied to all World of Warcraft characters on a single Battle.net account
  • Exclusive Battle.net downloadable content, including special portraits for your Battle.net profile, decals to customize your units in-game, and a visually unique version of the terran Thor unit

Check out the pics of the Thor pet, art book, and Dogtag in our gallery!

And all that will set you back $149.95, while the standard edition will cost $99.95, and will be available for both Windows and Mac . We're fiendishly excited by some of that stuff - the USB stick sounds fantastic, and it's a known fact you can never have too many copies of Starcraft or Broodwar. The art book we're also expecting to be truly epic - if there's one thing Blizzard do even better than making games, it's making stunning art for those games.

At the same time, we've also learnt that Australian and New Zealand players will have access to regional servers hosted in Southeast Asia, alongside gamers from Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. Double-plus good.

Stay tuned for more news - the release date should be dropping in a couple of weeks...

was $150 a typo?

I've read about this on several other site, and they've got different prices..

"The standard edition will sell for a suggested retail price of $59.99 and [...] The special Collector's Edition package, which is priced at $99.99 [...]"

Even with USD -> AUD that doesn't work out to $150 AUD.

man... we aussies are always getting ripped off. =C
