The latest in the less than happy parting of the ways between Activision and Jason West and Vince Zampella.
We reported earlier last month on the acrimonious split between Activision and senior staff at Infinity Ward. To recap, Jason West and Vince Zampella were fired and walked out of the building for 'breaches of contract' and other sundry offences.
West and Zampella followed this up with a lawsuit, and claims that Activision was unfairly holding back both Modern Warfare as a property, as well as withholding 'compensation'.
Things have gotten a lot murkier over the weekend, with Activision now launching a counter-suit against the pair.
According to AP, the Activision lawsuit claims West and Zampella "morphed from valued, responsible executives into insubordinate and self-serving schemers who attempted to hijack Activision's assets for their own personal gain and whose actions threatened both the future of the Call of Duty franchise and future of Activision's (Infinity Ward) studio." Activision also claims both men visited a major rival, and thus breached their contract.
Current thought is the 'major rival' is Electronic Arts, who is currently working on a reboot of the Medal of Honor franchise.
As messy breakups go, this one's got to be up there.
