GIGABYTE's regional overclocking event kicks off for a new year.

GIGABYTE have run their Go OC overclocking competition for quite a few years now, bringing together the world's best overclockers in a gauntlet of challenges that push their skills - and the tech they use - to the limits.

We've attended the finals for 2008 and 2009, as well as the Australian 2009 regionals, and each event still manages to improve upon the last in terms of tech used, and tech that survives the ordeals of being overclocked.

The Australian regionals for 2010 focused on two categories, Air and Liquid Nitrogen (LN2), in which four Aussies were entered. Each category used different tech:

Air:

  • Intel Core i5 670
  • GIGABYTE P55A-UD7
  • Corsair Dominator GT
  • GIGABYTE GT240
  • Antec Quattro 1200W
  • Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus

LN2:

  • Intel Core i7 980X
  • GIGABYTE X58A-UD7
  • Corsair Dominator GT
  • GIGABYTE GT240
  • Antec Quattro 1200W
  • Custom LN2 pots

The Air cooling comp was won by SniperOZ, closely followed by Snappy1 and Ando420 - Snappy1 had his chip over 5GHz on air cooling!

youngpro was the overall winner of the GOOC Aussie regional, pulling a 3.322s wPrime 32M score out of his 980X and following on with a SuperPi score of 6m 43.730s.

While youngpro won the regionals, he'll be unable to compete in the finals which will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia later this year, so the honour falls to bob(nz) and Uncle Fester - who will compete for Australia against the rest of the world.

Jump into the gallery of pics to see what went down on the weekend, and wish the Aussie team best of luck in their continued battle in Indonesia!
