Get Foxtel's TV service on your Xbox 360 later this year!
In what the two new partners are calling a ground-breaking agreement, Foxtel and Microsoft have just announced a new partnership that will bring a new range of entertainment to the Xbox LIVE service.
FOXTEL by Xbox LIVE (could they have found a more awkward name?) will deliver video-on-demand services and channels such as Discovery, MTV and more to the Xbox 360. No set-top-box will be required, and the service will be available to all homes with a broadband correction. An Xbox Gold subscription will also be necessary.
"This is a very exciting new frontier," FOXTEL Chief Executive and Managing Director, Kim Williams AM said in a release. "FOXTEL by Xbox LIVE will provide our 1.6 million subscribing households, as well as new customers, a transformative way of receiving and enjoying FOXTEL over the internet."
Beyond coming at the end of the year, there is no set date, nor have any packages or pricing details been released. More details will drop closer to the launch, we've been told.
This announcement follows the news that the PS3 will be delivering its own video-on-demand service.
