The adventures of Commander Shepard and SSV Normandy to get The Dark Knight treatment - can we get a hell yeah?
If news just announced by a Hollywood Reporter blog is to be believed, Mass Effect scenes will soon see their favourite human Spectre make the transition to the big screen.
Legendary Pictures - the same production house that delivered the newest Batman movies, 300 and The Watchmen - has bought the rights to the game from EA. In what we hope is a good sign, key BioWare staff are also coming on board the film project as Executive Producers; both Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, the company's founders, will be on board, as will director Casey Hudson.
The film already has a writer - Mark Protosevich - but there's not news on a director or, arguably more importantly, a cast. Director Chris Nolan's probably too busy polishing up Inception and then gearing up for the next Batman, but we can dream, right? Or would Zack Snyder be a better choice? Hmm, even Sam Raimi, currently working with Legendary on the Warcraft film, might be a good choice.
But who to play Shepard? Or any other of the key cast? Let us know your casting thoughts in the comments below. And check out our reviews of Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 for a recap of the games.
