Get a taste of the cool treats and shiny extras you'll get for pre-ordering 2K Games' Mafia II from Aussie retailers.

I know a lot of you are excited about Mafia II. This is cool; we're a game site, in part, and we want you to be excited about games. But it's also worrying, as it suggests more than a few of you are of the "put horse's heads in beds, ask questions later" school of thinking.

Must be more careful next time I get angry at folks.

Regardless, I know this news will please. 2K Games has just announced a number of deals with local retailers to deliver some nifty pre-order goodies. Here's the skinny:

  • Vegas Pack (EB Games - Australia and New Zealand): Get a taste of old school Vegas in this new DLC pack from Mafia II. Bring a taste of Vegas to Empire Bay as you cruise through the town in two new cars with smooth handling and timeless lines. Vito shows his Vegas style in two new suits inspired by movies and music of the time.
  • Renegade Pack (GAME and Mighty Ape New Zealand): Show off your inner renegade in this new DLC pack. Start with two new cars, one with the slick styling and tight handling of a small sports coupe and the other with the revved up engine of a '50s hot rod. Outfit Vito in two new suits, including leather and lettermen's jackets to fit his renegade persona.
  • Greaser Pack (JB Hi Fi - Australia and New Zealand): Free access to the in-game downloadable content pack that is all about speed. These two new hot-rod speedsters will win you pink slips every time. Pair them with two new outfits for Vito -- a leather jacket with heavy boots, and a leather racing suit -- and get your engines revving.
  • War Hero Pack (Independent Retailers): The '40s wouldn't be complete without a war hero. Vito plays the role well in the War Hero DLC pack. Drive two military style vehicles and notice the superior handling in all weather conditions. Vito looks sharp in two new military outfits, including fatigues and a dress uniform.

  • Mafia II Pin Up Posters: Pre-order Mafia II at EB Games and receive four A2 Limited Edition Pin Up Posters. Gamers will also have the opportunity to vote for which four of the twelve posters will get included in the pack. Head to http://mafia2.ebgames.com.au/ or http://www.ebgames.co.nz/events/mafia2/ next week to select the four favourite calender girls you want to take home with your copy of Mafia II.

The pin up posters (have a look in our gallery) are some neat period-style art. We got a calender of the pics as a promo item a few months ago, and we can attest to their work-environment-enhancing abilities.

Mafia II will be available on our shores on August 27.

"cannot find server"

This exclusive DLC shit can suck me off. After I buy the collector's edition I'll be doing some downloading of my own.

Rumour has it these car packs are just so you have access to them from the beginning of the game and don't have to wait 'till later in the game to play them.

Dave?

BC: From my 2K gal...

"For now they’re def an exclusive. I am not aware whether they will decide to make them available in months to come though. But if they do, it wont be for a while and it will still come at a cost."

Anyone would think this game was being produced by Billy Corgan, after the last Smashing Pumpkins album had an exclusive track for every major music retailer in the US, which turned out to be the only good songs on the album.

I think everyone should get access to the same content regardless. And hopefully, with the aid of the internet and some clever wannabe software engineers, we will :)

Damn it... I can't decide which pack I want!!!!

I'm a huge TopGear fan... so the greaser pack looks right up my alley. Leather racing suit FTW!!!

I want this game more than my next breath.
