Telstra's 'Dodge Wall' at the Ivy in Sydney set to make a splash

Telstra have flown out a Japanese Gameshow host to Sydney and give you a chance to trade your soul for a HTC Desire!

In the wide, wacky world of Japanese Gameshows nothing comes close to touching the sheer amusement generated by the Dodge Wall; a TV program that promises to take your shame and broadcast it into the wind.

The show involves contestants dressed in form-fitting latex suits standing at the edge of a pool, as a styrofoam wall moves towards them with a shape cut out of it: winning is achieved by remaining on the ledge after the wall has passed.

Telstra have transplanted the show from its original location and are remaking it inside The Ivy nightclub alongside a challenge - have your turn with the wall, and if you're particularly skilled, you can be flown to Japan for a night on the town.

While the Dodge Wall seems to be a thinly veiled way of raising awareness for the HTC Desire phone that Telstra are currently exclusive distributor for, it's an interesting and entertaining way to watch people lose their dignity.

With luck you'll look half as talented as this.

The winner will even have their Tokyo antics recorded - we're told - entirely on one of the handsets.

The event will be broadcasted and liveblogged on Facebook, as Telstra's Director of Brands Chantal Walker explains:

Our Sydney contestants will be filmed with the latest mobile innovation - the HTC Desire - with their hits and misses being uploaded to the Dodge Wall Facebook page after the event so that they can share the experience with friends long after the event is done and dusted. The lucky winner based on the highest point score will secure their seat on Telstra's Sushi Plane - a unique trip to Japan. The two contestants deemed to be the second and third place winners on the day will be rewarded with their very own Telstra HTC Desire.

It all goes down at The Ivy this Saturday the 26th of June from 10AM to 4PM, and two runner-ups can score themselves a handset in return for their self-respect.

And really, that's a tempting trade.

Is it just me or is the Japanese program a rip off of a show down on 9 a couple of years back? They had various Ch9 celebs playing. As I recall it only lasted 1 or 2 seasons.

I doubt the Japanese did the ripping off Icemanau.
