New Medal of Honor trailers are VERY SERIOUS

Video: Electronic Arts' new Medal of Honor reboot is serious business - so serious, only the most dangerous men in the world can help make it... seriouser.

War. What, I ask you, is it actually good for? It's a serious, messy business, but that doesn't stop company after company trying to make games out of 'em. There are those who find the whole business rather distasteful, but on the flipside, there are many game developers who feel that if they're going to make games like this, it's best to consult the experts and get them made right - that's just what EA's done with its new Medal of Honor reboot.

The company's worked very closely with US special forces operators in an effort to make Medal of Honor not only as gritty and realistic as possible (while still being actual fun), but also to make sure that the story EA's telling is respectful to the men and women on the ground. When we visited EA's LA HQ (for an in depth first look at the game), we met some of these guys - a few people think it's all an EA promotional stunt, but we think they're the real deal.

And now, you can get a taste of these guys for yourselves, thanks to a new video trailer series focusing on the elite tier one operators you'll get to play in the game.

Medal of Honor will be out this October on all major platforms. Keep an eye out on the site for more tier one videos. While you're waiting though, you should have a look at our Medal of Honor Collectors' Edition comp!

I'm really curious - can I get some constructive feedback on this? The negative response is really fascinating.

Yeah ok.

Tier one operators give this whole feeling of dark, brooding and mysterious bad men feel, but umm.

This tells me absolutely nothing about the game.

I'm actually really tempted to see if I can chat to the guys behind the trailer and marketing - the apparent disconnect between audience expectation and response is quite interesting.

The trailer really feels like the teaser to a discovery channel documentary more than a game.

There's nothing in there about the graphics. Nothing about game modes. Nothing about online play. I'll say nothing about the story (other than being about tier 1 operators, but to what extent will they figure? who knows. For all I know, the player could be the guy assigned to clean the tier 1's boots after a mission).

This seems to be the way with movie trailers and B-grade action movies. If you don't actually put anything of substance in the trailer, the audience isn't likely to complain when they don't actually get any substance.

The recent transformers movies and trailers are great examples here.

My comment reflects the fact that I find the whole premise so false, and such a blatant marketing exercise it makes me sick.

As if Tier 1 operators, if there is such a term, give a shit about EA games and MoH.

I mean honestly, we have to conceal the identity of this actor who is pretending to be someone he is not? Go back to the marketing drawing board EA and come up with something far less cheesy and, um, well.....gay.

Karmic, I feel that for me, your comments would have more clout if I could understand the connection between being false and cheesy, and being homosexual.

As it stands, the comments are instead full of fail.

I guess it's all about perspective people! On the one side this preview does not exactly tell us anything useful about the game, but on the flip-side it seems to be a prelude to a preview in that it is setting the mood for the game-related commercials.

War games are so realistic and startling today that they are more than just shoot-em up and blow-it up theoatrics. They're at a point now that requires the gamer to understand the fact that they are playing a game which is based up on real-life and war games are more about the tactics and the slow-down than the Hollywood-grown nonesense.

No, I just want a playable first person shooter set in the modern warfare style using DX11 technology and isn't full of fail. I don't see why that is so hard an ask.
