Starcraft II hardware requirements revealed!

The final minimum and recommended specs for the soon to be released Starcraft II have been uncovered - how does your rig stack up?

There's a certain itch in our mousing fingers - an odd prickling that's growing in intensity the closer we get to the launch of Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty. It's the itch of anticipation.

And now, one portion of that anticipation has been satisfied with the announcement of the game's hardware requirements. As expected - and is standard Blizzard practice - they're pretty unassuming. It's nice to know our rig, and the rigs of most Atomicans, will run the game pretty much at full spec.

Here's the details as discovered by BigDownload:

Minimum System Requirements*:
PC: Windows XP/Windows Vista/Windows 7 (Latest Service Packs) with DirectX 9.0c
2.6 GHz Pentium IV or equivalent AMD Athlon processor
128 MB PCIe NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT or ATI Radeon 9800 PRO video card or better

Mac: Mac OS X 10.5.8, 10.6.2 or newer
Intel Processor
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT or ATI Radeon X1600 or better

PC/Mac: 12 GB available HD space
1 GB RAM (1.5 GB required for Windows Vista/Windows 7 users, 2 GB for Mac users)
DVD-ROM drive
Broadband Internet connection
1024X720 minimum display resolution

*Note: Due to potential programming changes, the Minimum System Requirements for this game may change over time.

Recommended Specifications:
PC: Windows Vista/Windows 7
Dual Core 2.4Ghz Processor
2 GB RAM
512 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX or ATI Radeon HD 3870 or better

Mac: Intel Core 2 Duo processor
4 GB system RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT or ATI Radeon HD 4670 or better

Those are pretty low "Recommended" specs.

Definitely - I think they really want to make sure that as few net cafes as possible need to upgrade.

Which begs the question: Why would you want to play a game like this at a net cafe anyway??

Wouldnt most people want to play it at home on their own PC for maximum enjoyment ! Not having to use some dodgy sticky keyboard that someone's been using before you to surf some 'research' material.

No never been to a net cafe. Dont need to, I can afford my own PC to play games on. I dont need a shoulder to cry on at a net cafe when i get my butt kicked :).

LOL. Each to their own, and I respect that. But for the social aspect of gaming, net cafes do have a place.

...and I was so hoping the game would use DX11, from what some sites say it wont even be supporting DX10 - Is this true? If it is they have taken a step backwards for some reason, I read things are similar for Diablo 3...

I know graphics ain’t everything (laughs) but c’mon it's a PC game, should be lush 'JUST' because it can... I smell a console conspiracy.

It'll be DX10 compatible, but it's not going to have any AA or filtering options, sadly.

Aren't AA and AF due to be added in a patch? Same as Clan support and a few other things?

Patch! Sounds hopeless, clan support should come with battlenet accounts I would imagine... I hope we don't have to pay for the above as an added extra in the future...
