WoW players rejoice as Cataclysm Collector's Edition details arise

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm comes with a bunch of swag for the budding MMORPG player, including art books, DVD, pets, CD, pad, and cards...

Blizzard are never ones for small launches, and the announcement of the next World of Warcraft expansion pack was coupled with a whole bunch of new information explaining exactly what its new moniker, 'Cataclysm', will be about.

For those biding their time patiently for yet another addition to the popular WoW, and like their recent Starcraft II Collector's Edition bundle, we've scooped up some delicious info about what the Collector's Edition is likely to include - and it's not looking like a small bundle!

The World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Collector's Edition is rocking up with a price tag of $109.95 Australian dollars, giving you the game on disc with two new races (Worgen and Goblins, apparently), a bump to the level cap up to 85, and all that lies alongside these tempting goodies:

  • Art of the Cataclysm art book, featuring 176 pages of never-before-seen images from the archives of the Blizzard Entertainment cinematics department and the World of Warcraft development team, as well as progressive visuals from multiple stages of development.
  • Exclusive in-game pet: he may not be a breaker of worlds just yet, but Lil' Deathwing will still proudly accompany heroes on their struggle to save Azeroth from his much, much larger counterpart.
  • Behind-the-scenes DVD with over an hour of developer interviews and commentaries, as well as a special Warcraft® retrospective examining the rich gaming history of the Warcraft universe.
  • Soundtrack featuring 17 epic new tracks from Cataclysm, including exclusive bonus tracks.
  • Special-edition mouse pad depicting Deathwing menacing the ravaged continents of Azeroth.
  • World of Warcraft Trading Card Game cards, including a 60-card starter deck from the Wrathgate series, two extended-art cards, and two Collector's Edition-exclusive hero cards, marking the first appearance of goblin and worgen heroes in the TCG.

This is what the standard World of Warcraft: Cataclysm boxart looks like. Collector's Edition...so exclusive.

Blizzard is of course predicting huge sales of the expansion pack upon its release, which is slated for one of the days this year. If you're like us and can't wait for Cataclysm's release, then keep up with our blow-by-blow Cataclysm beta blog!

I'm a little disappointed. I thought this was the perfect opportunity to add an authenticator to the game to reduce the occurance of hacked accounts. Considering the authenticators are not available for purchase in Australia without paying the high cost of freight, this would have been a win/win for all WOW players.

Anakin - the freight cost to get an authenticator shipped is minimal. Pretty sure my mates that have them paid about $15-20 in total...

I recon most of these hacked accounts are from peeps either going in to a website advertised on the net, or actually clicking a link or following directions in an email.
Anyway, if you've got an iPhone/iTouch the authenticator's free...
