New Nerf Stampede made of AWESOME

Essential Linkage: Nerf continues to make better and better foam weaponry. Want-want-want!

You're never too old to play with toys.

Whether your toy of choice is a multi-thousand dollar computer or an actual toy, it makes no difference - it's that same wondrous mindset that sees many of us fascinated... indeed, enraptured, by whatever toy is in front of us. And with that in mind, the new Nerf Stampede - which Ars Technica has just reviewed - is pretty damn rapturous.

"The Stampede ships with a riot shield attachment, and that can also be fitted on any of the existing N-Force line. A gray plastic handle can be attached to the tactical rail on the bottom of the Stampede, and by pressing a button, you can deploy two spring-loaded legs from the bottom of the accessory to turn the handle into a bipod so you can drop to your stomach and lay down some nice covering fire one-handed."

Want. Oh, such want. A lick of paint (but keeping the bright barrel) would turn this into some awesome costuming for just about any SF cosplay you can think of, or an awesome prop for some live action roleplay. Not to mention, it's cool for keeping wayward deputy editors in line.

I wonder if I could justify a Nerf modding article in Atomic...

looks a lot like the vulcan...
is it battery powered? Must be...
The mag is quite serious though, looks like 10-15 ammo.
Riot sheild needs to be bigger though.

but other than that, I might go for it, depending on it's firing range...

18 shot clip, and you get three of them, a smaller six-shot clip, and enough ammo for all of them.

And yeah, battery powered.

A NERF modding article sounds good, maybe you should get some pratice on a Maverick first, remove the air restrictors and give it a sweet paint job.

You can get them for about $15-$20 at most major retailers.

Besides, I'd be happy to "donate" my Maverick for the interests of science :D

its rangers are close to that of a longshot. they have similar internals. seems pretty cool, do that battery mod so it shoots 600rpm XD.
i modded my longshot so much it ended up becoming a single shot that goes like 120 feet haha

I modded my maverick with a stronger spring and it stings at point blank, but the plastic internals were no match so it broke.. lols

The newer nerf series are starting to look more "real world" than scifi, its about time they made them look more realistic.

yeah in my longshot i removed the barrel and breach and replaces them with brass tubing and did an angel breach, along with removing air ristrictors and a stronger spring. all that plus stefans = bruises :D

You would be crazy NOT to do an article on "Unnerfing the Nerf"

Hawkeye, you managed to sneak your models in, I'm sure you could justify such an article, there seems to be interest.
Krispy89 - is there a how-to somewhere on the Maverick mods?

that has some maverick mods but i dont personaly know if it works well. if u beef up the pring in it or do the 5 cent mod which is super easy you will get better ranges.

I picked up two Recon's from Big W on the weekend, $29 each! Cheapest I've seen them in shops (kmart has them for $45). They are pretty good, done some small mods to one of them it fires a bit harder/further now, next mod is to start breaking bits out of it to get it firing further.
