Black Ops local server partnership announced

Internode and games.on.net sign up to a partnership with GameServers.com for an Australian Black Ops server solution.

There's been bit of an... outcry about the news regarding Call of Duty: Black Ops and the status of local multiplayer servers in Australia. GameServers.com, a US hosting service with just a single datacenter in Australia, was announced as the officially licensed partner to much trepidation and anger from local gamers recently.

But there's good news.

One of Australia's leading ISPs, Internode, and it's games.on.net service, have just announced that they are the local GameServers.com partner for Call of Duty Black Ops. According to the announcement, "Aussie gamers can rest assured their Black Ops experience will have the lowest possible latency, and the smoothest connection available."

"By working with GameServers.com we are able to provide Call of Duty: Black Ops servers free to the public and accessible Australia-wide," says Internode's Server Admin, Matt Lyons. "This will ensure rock solid performance for both GameServers.com and Internode customers."

We asked him just where the dedicated servers will be residing, and he told us that "will be located in our Adelaide and Sydney data centers."

For more info on the deal, check out: http://www.games.on.net/blackops. Atomicans, if you have any questions for Matt, let us know - we'll get in touch and see if we can get you a solid answer.

Good news, but this wouldn't be needed if they included...you know...proper dedicated servers!

Ahh well, Adelaide is better than nothing! It will still be less laggy than MW2.

if they wont my money, their gonna need telstra infrastructure and then have the infrastructure integrated as a joint server. to single out on just one company in only two cities is still a poor effort, they will need to expand.

can you imagine the pain of being fragged by internode noobs? you have to realize that this isn't a joint server, consequently giving the local end users the advantage over none internode end users, oh well i'll stick to BfBC2.

Guys For the first time in a long time we are finally getting Australian Servers. It is better then nothing. How often is a game released and all the servers are US based. We end up with HP and fragged all the time.
Take a chill pill Internode is a reliable service provider and at least they are doing something. Remmeber these companies look at the world percentage of gamers and Australia is rather small on there pie chart.

Thumbs up for Internode for Doing the right thing by all.

I did play MW1 on xbox live so cannot compare to dedicated server.

i think people are not so keen on jumping back into the COD band wagon after the incident with CODMW2.

for people who are not with internode will encounter mass disappointment lag lag and more lag, and for those who are with internode wont enjoy it for long, a minority of user for this server will not support the longevity of the service.

until the server contract is over, its literay game over for internode users and COD BOPS online australia.

The problem we have Ranson is that the pc gaming experience is going backwards, sure this is an improvement over mw2, but still not as good as mw1
