THQ announces John Milius - scribe of Apocalypse Now and Conan the Barbarian - to co-write Homefront novel.
Homefront's looking like a cracking game across the board, with an interesting take on the now well-worn military shooter genre. It's single-player's got a solid, gritty narrative going on, while the multiplayer's looking at the organised military side of the conflict.
We've already seen a mess of cool real-world items that have been sent to press, and they do a great job of showing just how much work is going into Homefront's future world. We've seen Occupation Handbooks and military documents, but now everyone can get the inside track on Korean occupied North America thanks to a novel tie-in announced today.
The book's going to be co-written by John Milius and Raymond Benson. Benson's a veteran of two Metal Gear Solid Books, and has written a mess of James Bond novels. Milius, on the other hand, is more known for his screenwriting. He's helped flesh out the future setting of the world, and while THQ often cites his work on Red Dawn and Apocalypse now, we will always remember him (alongside Oliver Stone) for gifting the world of geekdom with the following lines:
Mongol General: Wrong! Conan! What is best in life? Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women. Mongol General: That is good! That is good.
Yes, that is good.
The Homefront novel will be released next year to tie in with the release of the game, in March 2011.
