Homefront's first dev diary is out!

Video: Kaos Studios dishes the dirt on the genesis of its upcoming game, Homefront. Check out the latest trailer here.

Homefront's shaping up to be some kind of saviour of serious PC gaming. The developers, Kaos Studios, have already loudly come out and shown their support for the platform by announcing the inclusion of LAN support, and after this first dev diary, we can now see their dedication to the game's story.

It's all about one phrase - making the familiar alien. In other words, it's all about taking familiar settings like schools, baseball fields and malls and turning them into battlegrounds.

It's also all about the history of the conflict, and to that end Kaos has carefully considered just how a nation like the USA could fall so fast. And as the devs point out, it's not as if empires of that scale haven't fallen before...

Anyway, check it out for yourself. There's a mess of art, in-game action, and very serious devs talking about very serious things.

Huh... no wonder the North Koreans aren't liking this game. Homefront is out on all major platforms on March 10 next year.

If you ask me that has to be one of the most effective dev diary's I can remember.
A lot of them get lost in technical aspects of the engine and such, which is great, but to establish the setting and story so clearly I feel like this was more effective than their E3 2010 showing and probably a f**k ton cheaper to produce.

Looks cool but There are things they are not shown of Considering that it's a Speculative Fiction The EMP satellite for instance NORAD watchs air and space tracks satellites and over and around america for foreign objects etc according to defense guy that was on Tripple J the other day they were onto the 911 stuff but could not act, They can detect a pencil in orbit and they keep track of these things and can intervene but only if Civillian permission is granted from Civillian Authority, This story might work but not with direct military actions those things shown are detected with todays technology and every country thats not borderline 3rd world has These abilitys and is able to detect these types of threats and an unannounced launch of a missle or Satellite would be intercepted, except JAPAN they are to occupied building Playstation consoles and dressing like Anime characters to realise missles are being fired at them, But to invade they would need stealth subs etc i dont this as a working speculative Fiction.
