Video: We catch up on the Spike gaming awards, but, more importantly, we catch up on the plethora of game trailers that came with it.
As far as gaming awards go, the Spike TV Video Game Awards are the veritable Oscars equivalent; not that we gamers have a plethora of choice when it comes to these types of award shows. Regardless, with great Spider-Man-like responsibilities comes a great Spider-Man voice actor, Neil Patrick Harris (sans unicorn), to host a two hour show that looks at the year gone by and, more importantly, showcase some awesome exclusive previews of the gaming years to come. While many of the 2010 game awards fell into the predictable category, it’s the now-expected release of some rather shit-hot game trailers that continues to validate the existence of this particular awards show.
And the winners are…Just as Spike TV chose to gloss over the ‘Awards’ component of their show (and name for that matter), so too will we. Instead of providing the rather lengthy list of categories, nominees and winners, we’ve decided to just showcase the relevant ones. So without further ado:
Halo: Reach seems an odd choice for Best Multiplayer category, considering the likes of StarCraft II or the ever-popular Battlefield: Bad Company 2, while it just feels weird to give a Best Graphics award to a non-PC game (even though God of War III is gorgeous).
