Sega have made us very happy campers this morning with their latest bit of news about the upcoming release of Shogun 2: Total War.
It’s looking now like Shogun 2: Total War will not be your standard game release. There will not be a standard version followed up by a ‘collector’s edition’ in a slightly bigger box with an extra postcard chucked in to justify your extra spend. No – Sega has announced four separate editions, catering for all budgets and levels of crazy obsession.
There’s your standard edition, of course. And then the usual Limited Edition, which includes a unique playable faction, an additional historical battle scenario and some goodies for your online character.
But wait! There’s more! For even more happiness, get your hands on the Collector’s Edition, which comes with everything in the Limited Edition, all packaged up in a bamboo box. They’ll also throw in a detailed limited edition figurine and a book of art from the game.
Still not enough win for you? Try the Grand Master Edition, which is the Collector’s Edition, but with an added bonus chess set, featuring hand-painted playing pieces based on characters from the game! That’s so much loot we’re actually giddy!
And if that bit of news has made March seem so very far away, tide yourself over by checking out our preview of the game itself in the latest issue of the magazine.
