CES: Chips and tablets and 3D, oh my!

Another day, another big batch of tech news from the land of casinos and crazy stage shows. Today, Sandy Bridge!

… And now that I’ve stopped glowering at our CMS, let’s try that again!

Intel vs AMD: laptop edition
Is the Windows laptop making a comeback? Recent news from Intel and AMD seems to be pointing to a bit of a resurgence, with Intel’s Sandy Bridge making an appearance in a whole mess of laptops announced today. AMD’s Fusion chips are also looking like fun!

Clear out your bookshelves once and for all
Ion’s Books Saver is a scanner that will turn all your books into PDFs for your eReader of choice. It’s even got a cool little cradle so it cuddles your books while it renders them obscelete. Nice if 2011 is they year you take your reading digital.

3DTV goes ergonomically friendly
We’ve been a little skeptical about the rise of 3DTV, but the news that we might finally be free of the heavy, ugly and battery-sucking glasses is making us look twice (thrice?).

That’s just one of the five technologies from the show floor that PC & Tech Authority are predicting will be big this year. Personally, I’m all thumbs, so those tablets with detatchable keyboards are looking mighty tempting!
