Razer and Nvidia show off some unique gaming devices at CES - anyone for a drink and dinky little gaming device?
While everyone struggles to wow the punters at CES, Nvidia have succeeded in producing one of the stranger items seen this year - the Kegputer.
Produced by the GeForce community evangelist Ben Lzicar, the Kegputer packs in a GeForce GTX 580s in SLI with an Asus P8P67-M Pro motherboard and Sandy Bridge chip.
A re-purposed car fridge lets the Kegputer not only keeps its core cold, but also keeps the beer cold. The brew of choice is Sierra Nevada, the "best beer” in the world according to the Nvidia crew.
Meanwhile, Razer was encouraging journalists to make “cutting edge” jokes with its Switchblade gaming device. Co-made with Intel, this concept device attempts to make mobile PC gaming a viable proposition.
The Switchblade has a 7-inch multi-touch screen and runs Windows 7 along with a custom Switchblade UI. The Keyboard is an LCD-based system, similar to the fabled Optimus Maximus keyboard.
The concept means that the keys change to match the game you’re playing. It also allows for UI elements to be moved off the main screen, letting you get the most from the 7-inch display.
Razer are quite cagey about the specs of the Switchblade, with spokesperson Chris Mitchell stating it had the latest Atom processor but also reinforcing that everything about the device could change.
