The weekend is so close, we can smell it … or is that just the laundry pile? In any case – it’s linky time!
Let’s start off with the news that geeky sitcom The Big Bang Theory has reportedly been renewed for not one, not two, but three more seasons. To be honest, it’s not our cup of tea, but if it’s yours, and you’re not worried that a three year renewal could lead to the kind of complacency that has brought down far greater shows, then yay!
The Comics Reporter has wrapped up its holiday series of interviews with a whole bunch of awesome comic people, and you can find them all here. It’s a fair bit of reading to get through them all but fans of the books with the pictures pictures and the words will find plenty to amuse, entertain and inform.
And still on comics – sort of – everyone’s favourite freakishly tall, ginger-haired, formerly-Simpsons-writing night time talk show host has been taping the odd segment with the folks from DC Animated. Here is some fun footage of the kind of goofiness that Conan does best when ‘The Flaming C’ replaces the Man of Steel.
This is just a rumour at this stage, so keep your pants on, but it looks like the Tenth Doctor is going to be popping up in The Hobbit. It’s like all our fandoms are suddenly colliding!
In more movie news, it looks like 20th Century Fox have plans to bring Missile Command – yes, that 80’s video game – to the big screen. Which should be … about as interesting as Sony Picture’s Rollercoaster Tycoon – should either of them ever actually get made.
(In related news: This just in. Yep. Pac-man. Yep. Reality series. Sigh.)
A movie that actually is being made is Hollywood’s latest alien invasion super-film, Battle for Los Angeles. Check out this trailer and get excited for March.
Now, we debated long and hard whether to include this next bit. I don’t want to accidentally accuse anyone here of ever having watched Dawson’s Creek – especially given that I have watched a lot of bad television in my time, and even I didn't. BUT I think the Crying Dawson meme has long since transcended the terribleness of the show itself. You may (note: may) have used it yourself, at some point. And if you have, you may (note: may) be somehwat amused by this site, where the man with the gigantic forehead himself presents many more animated gifs for your amusement. Maybe. *ducks*
And finally, it’s freaky cool stuff time. We don’t know that it’s exactly regulation, but this Fallout-3-inspired motorcycle helmet certainly looks the part and while it may not offer the most sound protection, it would probably scare many a Sunday driver away, thus reducing your risk of collision. Win!
And do you ever get the feeling that your work-issue stationary doesn’t quite reflect your feelings towards the people with whom you correspond? This may be your answer. This has been around for a while but there’s nothing like coming back to work after Christmas to make us want some of those envelopes.
