We could get used to these two-day weeks, although we could do without the deadline in middle. But anyway, it's Friday, so it's link time.
This week saw the release of the penultimate issue of Marvel’s Fantastic Four, and anyone who’s been paying attention will by now know that one of the foursome carks it. This is both big news and not, according to the internet – comic book heroes die all the time and it doesn’t always stick – but here’s a little more on the whole thing and the future of the franchise, including (spoiler warning) the identity of the unfortunate party.
We’re quite partial to Jeff Bridges over in these parts, and don’t mind the odd Coen Brothers outing either, so True Grit is most definitely on our must-see list. In the meantime, we’re quite enjoying this rather cool – and very free – True Grit comic. Yay for free stuff on the intertubes!
There’s a bit of movie casting news around this week, what with wee Irish rose Saoirse Ronan joining the cast of The Hobbit (which may or may not have been delayed … again), and newly Oscar-nominated Javier Bardem reportedly being offered in the massive movie/TV series project that is the adaptation of Stephen King’s fantastical Dark Tower series. The first film isn’t due out for another two years, so don’t lets get too excited just yet.
In stuff that might be on screens sometime before 2013, this week also sees the release of images from DJ Caruso’s I Am Four and X-Men: First Class which, no matter how you feel about the franchise, needs no introduction.
In news of people who build cool things, this robot hand has been built by some nice folks over in Germany. It is reportedly better at most hand functions than the thing at the end of your wrist, and looks pretty cool too. It’s also bulletproof, which means if it somehow manages to get a mind of its own, we’re all doomed. Finally.
And finally, from the silly-things-we-are-sadly-too-old-for department, these ride-in Daleks really should come in adult sizes, because they would prove a much better way of getting around the office than using feet. We also quite fancy this Tardis emergency fund keyring, but it’s just quite not the same …
