The Darkness II brings the... dark... back. Yeah.

Remember The Darkness? No, not the squealing rock band, but rather the 2007 game. No? Well, we'd kinda forgotten too... but it's getting a sequel! Yay?

Does completely forgetting the schtick of the original The Darkness make us a bad gamer? Probably, but we figure we're a bad gamer to begin with, so what the hey. Regardless of our waxing or waning gaming cred, 2K Games' and Digital Extremes' have just announced the sequel to the game that scored ahttp://www.atomicmpc.com.au/Review/87861,the-darkness.aspx#mce_temp_url#.

(in fact, we were wondering why that game review, by ex-editor Logan Booker, was in the top ten list of stories this morning. Now we know.)

Anyhoo, The Darkness II - more quad wielding, demon-tentacle gameplay, more violence, more dark-vs-light dichotomy.

“The Darkness II is a well of dark and imaginative violence, and it’s a stylized and beautiful nightmare,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K, in today's rather hyperbolic release. Apparently, the game's writing will feature "a tightly integrated narrative that weaves dark humor with hardcore tenderness."

Hardcore... huh?

Regardless, the game's slated for a Spring 2011 release on all major platforms. Be sure to enjoy the first screenshot, which show's the game's protagonist killing Luigi the Plumber.

I heard so many good things about "The Darkness", but no matter how much I tried I couldn't get the controls to work nicely for me.

In the end I chucked on a a spandex jumpsuit and pledged my allegiance to the now defunct glam rockers. \m/

Hey, The Darkness stands as one of the FEW games I have finished...ever! Now, that likely says a lot more about me as a gamer than The Darkness as a game, but I'll most definitely get this new one...especially if they get Mike Patton back for voice-work! :)

I'm in the same boat as stuub, one of the few games I've completed 100%.

Can't wait for this!

I brought The Darkness. One of the few games I didn't finish... because I just got so bored of it. Simply was not fun.
