A relatively short but very sweet and video-laden end to what has seemed like a rather long week …
But first, news! In this case, the news that Shane Black may be the man replacing Jon Favreau at the helm of Iron Man 3. We quite enjoyed Kiss Kiss Bang Bang – Black’s last (and first) directorial effort, but the involvement with The Last Action Hero and The Long Kiss Goodnight has us a teeeeny bit worried.
It might not seem like it, but the final episode of Arrested Development aired five years ago yesterday in the US (we’re not quite sure it ever aired here, honestly). Popcandy has put together a little homage to one of our favourite dysfunctional families to commemorate the date.
In the tradition of heavily stylized movie and TV posters, we quite like these very cool bits of Star Wars artwork. They’re not overly representative of the cast of the films – one could be forgiven for assuming that Princess Leia is the star of the franchise, judging by these – but they’re a bit of fun.
Still arguing about the end of Inception? Here's an in-depth, if slightly non-commital, explaination of the movie itself and a theory as to that ending that has apparently been endorsed by Christopher Nolan himself. Just in case it’s not obvious: here be spoilers.
But mostly, between the Superbowl and the fact that the US Summer (ie. Blockbuster season) is very slowly approaching, this has been a huge week for movie trailer releases. This is the much-hyped and just-released trailer for X-Men: First Class. Purty.
And here is the first trailer for Marvel’s long-awaited superhero flick Captain America. It’s looking like a lot of fun and with Joss Whedon on the writing team, our hopes remain relatively high.
And finally, the Superbowl saw the airing of yet another trailer for Kenneth Bragnah’s Thor. The Kenneth Bragnah bit is still a little puzzling, but given it features Idris Elba (Stringer Bell, for the Wiries), we’ll probably end up checking it out … maybe with a blanket and a pillow handy, just in case.
And see now? You’re a whole six minutes closer to the weekend. Don’t say we never do anything for you …
