Civilisation 5 goes South Pacific

Sid Meier's Civ 5 gets Polynesian with it's latest DLC. Oh, and there are some new Multiplayer maps to check out too!

Because obviously some of you haven’t given over quite enough of the past few months to playing Civ 5, Take 2 and Fixaris Games will this week be releasing a couple of bits of DLC to rope you right back in.

First off, is the Civilisation and Scenario Pack: Polynesia, which gives you access to a new Polynesian Civilisation and Paradise Found, a scenario where you take on the role of one of four Polynesian kingdoms and work to become the dominant culture in the region. You get access to new technology and social policy trees, along with a special set of game rules just for this scenario and its land-scarce - but very shiny - environment.

Getting into Polynesia will set you back a few bucks, but if you’re up for a new Civ experience, the $5.99 could be money well spent.

Also out this week is a new Multiplayer Map Pack, which includes three new multiplayer maps: Skirmish, specially designed for full-on one-on-one duels; Ring, which lets you sail across the middle of the world to fight opponents; and Ancient Lake, a map set around and inland sea with a mysterious secret.

The Multiplayer Map Pack will be available for free download next time you connect to Steam, so you don’t have to spend a cent (besides, you know, on internet access and electricity and all that stuff). Win!

But you don't get a cool CARDBOARD box to put on the shelf or recycle, somehow I still like Steam though.

...hmmm, new technology and social policy trees, I love trees.
