A week out from release, EA announces the big name behind what's sure to be a big score, along with a last-minute pre-order incentive.
For some, it’s probably going to be yet another reason to get excited about Crysis 2. For others, it’ll instill a feeling of dread in the pit of your stomach. The kind of dread that is usually accompanied in films by an overbig, overbooming, overblown orchestral track.
A week out from launch – and only a few hours before our exclusive Crysis 2 LAN tonight – EA have announced that Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer has had a hand in composing the soundtrack for the hotly anticipated title. Zimmer and his team, including Lorne Balfe, have worked with existing composers Boris Slavov and Tilman Sillescu to create the score and give depth to the futuristic, alien-infested New York setting. EA have described the result as ‘dramatic and intense’ – as though we would expect anything else.
It’s quite the coup for EA and Crytek, but not the first game Zimmer has worked on. He also had a hand in last years score for Modern Warfare 2.
We’re personally a little excited by this news, but if you’re more apprehensive, you can preview the soundtrack here and even buy it online from your usual friendly music retailers from the 22nd.
In other Crysis news, EA have also announced that anyone who pre-orders the game from today will get an automatic bump to the Limited edition, which, as well as unlocking all classes immeditately, includes the following in-game multiplayer perks:
Of course, this only applies for pre-orders and while stocks last, so if you’re keen, you’d best get a move on.
Dun Dun DUUUN!
