They're not the biggest name in tech, but they're hoping the announcement of their flashy new CPU cooler changes all that.
Evercool have been around for quite a while, but never really managed to crack that upper eschelon of ‘name brands’ in the CPU cooling space.
Not that that’s stopping them. Today they’ve announced the latest addition to their line-up, the Transformer 3. Somewhat confusingly, it comes on the back of the Transformer 4 and the Transformer 6, with the name actually relating to its three 6mm heat pipes.
Our first impressions? It’s very shiny – like the heatsink, the fan seems to be finished in bright silvery aluminium, so it’ll certainly look very fetching in your PC case.
Performance-wise, it’s hard to tell how well this baby performs until we get one into our labs. Evercool are claiming that the Transformer 3 runs at 12c cooler than the stock cooler through normal use, and up to 25c during overclocking. The fan can spin at up to 2200rpm, and adjusts automatically depending on the CPU temperature, at a whisper-quiet 15dBa – although at this point you’d be taking their word for it.
With no pricing released as yet, it’s hard to see where this cooler will sit in the market, but we’re guessing probably towards the more cheap and cheerful end. We’ll have more info once we actually get the Transformer 3 spinning its shiny fan in our labs.
