IGN raises $26,000 for Japan

Want to know what a handful of determined games journalists can do when they put their mind to it? The answer - quite a lot.

We gave you a heads up last week to a rather awesome local charity initiative driven by gamers, so it's only fair to follow up on how it went. Last Friday the happy campers over at IGN's local Australian office played 24 Japanese games for 24 hours straight, in order to raise money for the ongoing relief operations in the well-and-truly Godzilla-stomped country.

Well, it worked.

IGN raised over $26,000 - a super effort by any stretch of the imagination! Check out a the article over on IGN (especially the great shot of the gang, who looked happy by DAMN exhausted), and since the drive is technically still open, pop in a few dollars to keep the total ticking over.

Nice one, IGN. Well done.

Nice of them, but...

Why is this news and NCsoft's donation of 500 million Yen, not news?

Because that's the first I've heard of NCsoft's donation? Whereas, since the IGN crew is local, I do know about it, and I think it's worth promoting.

Good work IGN and thanks for bringing this up Hawkeye, was just the gentle reminding nudge I needed to open my wallet.
If you're meaning to give something then now is a great time, not to late at all and no amount is too small. Have a look at the link, lots of 5, 10, 30 amounts. It's all gonna add up and help.
