Not to be confused with Tankworld - as seen on regional TV - this mighty MMO is finally getting a proper release. And there's gold to be got!
We’ve been keeping an eye on World of Tanks for quite a while around these parts – and we know you guys have too. Not only has it got its own forum thread, but it got a nice chunk of votes in our 2010 Game of the Year awards – just missing out on our top 5 MMO’s – and way back in November it racked up over half a million users. All of that, and the Guinness World Record for the Most Players Online Simultaneously on One MMO Server, is pretty damn impressive for a game that hasn’t even been officially released anywhere but Russia!
And today, Wargaming.net have announced that the World War II free-to-play MMO is finally – after three years of development and beta and Russian fun – available to pre-order ahead of an April 12 (TBC) release.
As to what you get if you pre-order? Well, gold. And lots of it, at a discount of about 10%. You can choose from three packages – light, medium and heavy – which will set you back between $US45 and $US90, and get you 12,500, 18,700 or 25,000 gold, depending on the package you shell out for.
Of course, there’s more. You also get your own exclusive tank with a set of unique set of skills that will have you out in front of the pack from day one. Choose from Soviet (light), German (medium) or American (heavy) flavours.
In short, whether you’re one of the may Atomicans already immersed in World of Tanks, or you’re keen to check out what all the fuss is about – and how they managed over 90,000 players on one server at once – you should probably go here to get started.
If you’re not? Well… we’ve got nothing.
